Sunday Thoughts

Here we are again, another week has flown by, it’s hard to believe that today is the last Sunday in August, although you wouldn’t think it was August looking at the weather.

Things have been good, I’m busy with the Hands of Sligo – read more here. I’m also making time to paint, I haven’t posted many paintings recently, there are about ten works in progress, which may, or may not, ever get finished. It’s a wonderful way to relax though.

The Hands of Sligo project has prompted me to start taking photos again, and it’s great to be behind the camera again. It’s also very handy to hide behind, there was an anxious moment this week so I just took out the camera and started snapping – no one speaks to you when you have a camera up to your face.

I fathomed this week why I don’t like sitting in cafes on my own, I remembered when I was a child and things were going on I was sent to a cafe to get me out of the house. It’s weird that something from so long ago could be a trigger now, but it made a lot of sense. I forced myself to go to a cafe today and to sit on my own and see if I could beat the anxiety in that situation – and I did it! That’s huge progress for me. It’s quite nice working out the root of my triggers, like another piece of the jigsaw fitting together.

I had great fun at Achonry Farmers Market yesterday, it was their 3rd birthday and I ended up having a game of ‘Hook a duck’ with Sian. I’d forgotten how competitive I am and Sian was thrashing me – so I stole her rod! Pure boldness! She had another one and she beat me anway, it was great craic though.

That’s about it for this week, thanks for reading, and I hope you are all keeping well.
