There was such a great interest in the July feature of Sligo Food News (read it here) so I’ve decided to do one for August. Firstly I will start with what I’ve been eating and drinking in Sligo – and actually it’s not that much this month, so to the people who think I eat out all the time – I don’t 🙂 The pic is in the featured image – from left to right porridge in Osta, Coffee in St. Honore, Barbie milkshake in Tempo and Peaches and Cream French Toast in Hooked.

There was also coffee and cake in Vintage Lane (thanks to my friend Orla).

Vegan sushi from Me Sushi and Biscoff ice cream from O’Hara’s – both at the Strandhill People’s Market (it’s not on this Sunday by the way – 6.8.23)

Hatch22 have launched a new cake menu for August (check them out above – I want them all ;)) along with thei rrange of specialty coffee, lemonades and hot chocolates . Opening hours Sat 10.30-3.00 and Sun 11.30-3.00. Find them in Ballintogher Enterprise Centre, Sligo.
Drumanilra Farm/Honestly Kitchen have launched their Organic Vegetable and Fruit Boxes, you can also order eggs. Collection is from Boyle, Strandhill, Carrick or Knockvicar: https://honestlykitchen.ie/shop/
Hagstravaganza 9 is on at The White Hag on August 12th. This is Ireland’s largest international brewery festival and is always a great event, buy tickets here: https://www.thewhitehag.com/hagstravaganza
If you can’t make it to Hagstravaganza, you can order the Boxtravaganza: https://www.thewhitehag.com/product/boxtravaganza-2023/
There’s a new bar and restaurant opening in Ballisodare. Peacock Lane opens on Saturday 5th of August 2023 with their bar, the restaurant will open in September, date to be announced. Find them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100095289240900

The Blind Tiger has been renamed and revamped, it’s now Maeve’s Bar. I’m not sure if they will be doing food and coffee like The Blind Tiger used to, but maybe someone from there will let me know. It looks very cool though – photo from their Facebook page.
Finally the sad news that Hearts Desire has closed down. This was a lovely coffee shop in Sligo town and much more than a cafe, it was a real community. It was a place that I could go in on my own and feel welcome and know that someone would chat to me, or that Tony would introduce me to someone or have the chats. I will miss it.
Thanks for reading, this post is just a guide and isn’t in conjunction with, or sponsored by any of the businesses mentioned. The food that I ate I bought (apart from my friend who treated me in Vintage Lane, and Lucy who bought me the ice cream.
