A new ‘old’ shop opens – O’Hallorans Sweet Shop, Carrick on Shannon

This is a lovely story and one that I’ve followed with interest. A lady called Bridie Moore used to run a convenience store and sweet shop in Summerhill, Carrick on Shannon, the shop opened in 1932 and sadly closed in the 1990’s. It’s wonderful to see that Bridie’s great-grandson Mark has recently reopened the shop.

The shop is full of colourful jars of sweets, perfect for all of you with a sweet tooth, and great to see some old favourites there too.

They also have an ice cream counter, a barista bar serving fairtrade coffee and tea, and a selection of pastries.

In the window you’ll see the weighing scales from the shop that date back to 1969, and the Facebook page shows a photo of Bridie using the scales:

Wishing Mark, Jolanta and Lauren all the very best, check out the Facebook page to keep up with the latest news.
