A Butcher Shop with a Difference in Leitrim

I love finding places that surprise me and this one is a real gem of a place, and well worth a visit. Seamus runs Keenan’s Butcher Shop, and he doesn’t just sell meat and groceries, he has a great collection of items – it’s like a mini museum.

The first thing I noticed was the door sign, which made me smile, pride of place is a jukebox, which works – in case you fancy some music while you shop!

There are old telephones, old drink bottles, Tayto packets, and so much more.

There’s also part of a plane, I asked Seamus about that and he told me it’s from a Flying Fortress Plane that crashed at Eagles Rock during World War II. Seamus’s dad and uncle retrieved part of the plane in 1975 and it’s now in the shop. You can read more about the plane and what happened on this website.

Seamus is happy for people to call in a visit his shop to take a look at his collection of things. It’s a snapshot of history and well worth a visit if you are near Manorhamilton.

  1. Great butchers. Top quality meat and lots to see while there. Never saw a butchers shop like it . Well worth a visit . Just read the sign outside to make sure Seamus is there!
