There’s a wonderful family run business called Leitrim Hill Creamery; Lisa, Gypsy and Rochelle live on a goat farm in rural Leitrim and they produce delicious fresh artisan hard and soft goat cheese with a fantastic flavour. It’s used on many menus across Leitrim, Sligo and beyond.

“Lisa Gifford’s grandparents were reared in Manorhamilton and Leitrim. Growing up New York Irish she always connected to Ireland spending a lot of time here in the ’60s and ’70s. At the young age of 75 years old, she decided it was time to make Leitrim her permanent home, got some goats, and started making cheese.” – The rest is history!
Not only do they produce goats cheese, but they also make goat’s milk fudge, Cajeta (Goat Milk Caramel), and even ice cream!
I’d highly recommend a visit to The Hidden Corner Cheese Shop in The Market Yard, Carrick on Shannon, Leitrim, it’s a beautiful shop stocking all their products as well as a range of olives, crackers and more. If you can’t get to the shop you can find them at Manorhamilton Farmers Market on Fridays from 10am – 2pm, and Sligo Farmers Market from 9am – 1pm.

For 2024 they have a range of hampers available, and they can deliver locally in Leitrim. Find out more on the website.
