Sunday Thoughts

There nearly wasn’t a Sunday Thoughts blog post this week, the last few haven’t been read much and I wondered about stopping it, but then I reminded myself that the blog isn’t about people reading it. It’s my place for me to post my views, and it doesn’t really matter if people read it or not. Sometimes it’s good to think about how the blog started, and not think about the bigger picture.

I suppose it’s all a kind of imposter syndrome feeling, and it’s OK to feel that way too. There have been a couple of knock-backs this week, and that’s OK too. Although half of me feels like not reaching out to people anymore, I have to remember that it’s not all people though, and I have no way of knowing what’s going on in other people’s lives, and it’s not all about me.

So, I will keep doing what I’m doing and focus on the positives, and the things that make me happy. One of the things is the ‘big project’ and I will tell you about that in a dedicated blog post. I met the lady I am working with today, and we have decided that the time is right to spread the news, so watch this space.

It’s been a busy week, we had our summer work team building on Monday, which involved working on a farm, and a meeting. It was the perfect Irish summer day – lashing rain one minute, boiling hot the next. My feet got wet, and for some reason having wet feet makes me want to cry – weird I know. Anyway, it was lovely to see the team again, and to spend time on the farm, I’ll tell you more about Sean – the holistic farmer in another blog post.

As I was driving to my meeting today, I was admiring all the wildflowers, in one area there were around fifty wild orchids, it was so lovely to see them, purple and lilac amongst the green. The Irish countryside is very special; stone walls covered in moss and ivy, fields of buttercups, a white cottage with a green door and a red roof – the colours of Mayo. I saw a man walking along with a Nirvana t-shirt, and a group of cyclists in their blue lycra – an interesting juxtaposition.

This week I got to meet someone from twitter, it was lovely to meet them and put a face to a name. We had a lovely chat, and hopefully we’ll meet again.

You might have seen me post a few months ago about my friend Vanessa. The most awful thing happened during the week and her husband Ocky died in a tragic accident. I didn’t know Ocky, but I’m told he was an absolute gentleman and it’s just so heartbreaking. If you would like to support their beautiful children and grandchild, you can do so here.

That’s a very condensed version of my week. I’m not even going to mention the weather for a change! I hope you all have a good week.

  1. Gosh Val I didn’t connect your friend Vanessa as being the recently deceased wife of this gentleman who sadly lost his life this week. Their poor wee family. How tragic. Because of Joe’s interest in things rescue related we were aware of the callout on Benbulben and the tragic outcome. So so sad.
