I didn’t write a Sunday Thoughts post yesterday, I couldn’t do it. A lovely lady left us much too soon, and it put everything into perspective. I attended the memorial service and it was as special as the lady herself. Heartfelt and moving, and my heart went out to her family and friends. The team at the Hawk’s Well did an amazing job.
Vanessa was one of those special people, you don’t come across them very often, but when you do, they touch your soul. She had a smile that lit up any room, and she was kind and caring to everyone she met, with a special love of animals. That was how I met her, I was organising a jumble sale for some animal rescues and I needed someone with a van to help me collect things. I put a call out on twitter and Vanessa answered. She was such a wonderful help, and we stayed in touch.
When I worked on the ‘I met Spike’ project, Vanessa had a story. She was walking at Doorly Park and an old man said hello to her and carried on walking. Vanessa remarked to her friend that the man was from The Goon show.
At my darkest Vanessa was there for me, she didn’t judge, she just listened. I went to her house for lunch, I played with her children and I cuddled her dogs.
I’m heartbroken for her family, friends, pets, work colleagues, and everyone that knew her. May Vanessa rest in peace.
