There’s a new cafe in Leitrim, welcome to Earth Artisan Bakery and Cafe, a bright and airy cafe in the heart of Carrick on Shannon. Their bakery specialises in long, naturally fermented breads, made using traditional methods. The pâtisserie and viennoiseries are made fresh daily in house by their French trained chef de pâtisserie and her team.

I really love finding places that offer something different and Earth really ticks that box. Their breakfast and brunch menu includes croissant benedict, croissant royale, pancakes, French toast (including an ultimate French toast with caramalised banana, vanilla ricotta, fresh berries, almonds and maple syrup). Their sandwiches include pastrami, veggie and Texan chicken – and you get a choice of sourdough bread, flatbread, or croissant. Are you hungry now?

I ordered the brûlée porridge – which I have never seen anywhere before and it was a real wow factor, and tasted even better than it looked. My cappuccino was wonderful too. The staff are friendly and helpful, and I felt very much at home here.

Everything Earth bake, make or sell embodies their passion for artisan methods, and they use organic local products where possible. They are open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 5pm, and you can check them out on Instagram. I can’t wait to go back again and I wish them all the best of luck.

Thanks so much to the team for treating me to breakfast, it was very much appreciated.
