The Breaker – Minette Walters

ukI’ve joined a Facebook Bloggers Book Club which has just recently started. For January we could just read our own choice of book. I was part way through The Breaker so continued reading it.

This is the second book I’ve read by Minette Walters and I really enjoyed it (if enjoyed is the right word).  Kate’s body is found washed up on a beach, 12 hours later her 3-year-old daughter is found walking through the local town.

It was quickly established that foul play was involved in Kate’s death and there are two and in my mind three suspects for the murder. I won’t give the book away and tell you ‘who did it’. It was a good read but the bumbling policeman annoyed me a bit. He just seemed slightly dumb and the book went off tangent a bit with him trying to chat up a ‘horsey woman’ who lives in a run down stables with her elderly mother, which really didn’t have anything to do with the murder.

I did try to read another Minette Walter’s book after this but just couldn’t get into it. I might leave it for a while and come back to it. February’s book is Bossy Pant’s by Tina Fey…and I’m struggling, in as much as I read 4 chapters, got bored and haven’t picked it up since!
